About Me: My muse is Rachel Ashwell. Many years ago, I stumbled upon RA purely by accident, I was channel surfing and there she was, RA, shopping in a California Flea Market. I was immediately awe-struck. Rachel, in a soft voice, was demonstrating to her audience, how to transform cast-offs into easy-style decorative pieces. Her creative flare was inspiring as she turned ordinary items into functional romantic accessories for our homes. I know all of you who share a passion for this design style had heart palpitations, as I did, when you discovered Rachel creating this lifestyle of ease, beauty, function and comfort for the first time. I could not get enough information on what Rachel described as "Shabby Chic". This style of decorating and living has since then become my passion. Her unique ideas reinforced my creative and crafty ambitions. The "Shabby Chic" way of life has no boundaries, I became so excited as I had found a creative outlet, a unique way to express my individuality. What I feel is most important, I am creating an ambiance that displays my own personality.........how personally satisfying!! I have been selling my shabby/chippy wares in many antique malls at the Jersey Shore. I have been successful at this location, the beach atmosphere is relaxed, easy and fun. My customers just love the chippy, distressed re -purposed furniture, pale pastel colors bring brightness into any space and the vintage refurbished pieces create a cozy cottage ambiance at the shore. I believe "Shabby Chic" decorating is all about your individuality, your personal style, your uniqueness which is a reflection of who you are and your Shabby-style DOES make a statement.
